Vintage Aluminum Serving Tray...

Vintage Aluminum Serving Tray...

I thrifted this tray this past week with my sister for just a few dollars. I wanted it because my parents had several that were inscribed for their wedding, my dad's college graduation, etc. and I wanted to test cleaning products and methods before I tackle my parents' trays. Anyway, I had a stainless steel / aluminum cleaner for my stainless in the kitchen and it didn't really touch the oxidation and yellow build-up of greasy gunk on this tray. What worked best was a bath tub soak of super hot water with about a cup of white vinegar added and I soaked until the water was cool. I followed the soak with a quick spray of Mr. Clean Orange Multi-Surface cleaner. I still need to soak this tray again to get the yellow greasy gunk out of all the detail, but I ran out of white vinegar, so that will have to happen another day.

BTW, these aluminum trays can be had for just a few dollars at thrift stores and they are so detailed and useful around the house.
